MEN'S SOCCER TABS SLIWINSKI AS ASSISTANT COACH

RADFORD, Va. - Radford men's soccer head coach Marc Reeves has named former St. John's and Lafayette assistant Maciej Sliwinski as the program's assistant coach.
At Radford, Sliwinski will assist with all aspects of the Highlander program, with a special emphasis on recruiting and team preparation.
Sliwinski, a former two-year assistant alongside Reeves at St. John's, spent the 2009 season as an assistant at Lafayette.
"Maciej is an enthusiastic young coach who I am excited to welcome as part of our men's soccer staff,” Reeves said. “Maciej brings a variety of experiences from varying levels of coaching and has a real desire to impact our program."
Sliwinski worked under Dennis Bohn at Lafayette in 2009, helping the Leopards to a 10-7-2 overall record and a trip to the Patriot League semifinals. While at Lafayette, his duties included goalkeeper training – Sliwinski guided Phillip Nelson to Patriot League Goalie of the Year honors, along with a spot on the All-ECAC First Team and the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team.
Sliwinski spent the two seasons prior to his arrival at Lafayette at St. John's, where he assisted with multiple aspects of the program, including recruiting, team preparation, camps and alumni communications. He worked under head coach Dr. Dave Masur, the 2008 Big East Coach of the Year, and with Reeves, who was named the NSCAA East Regional College Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2008, the Red Storm earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the national semifinals, en route to an overall record of 19-3-3.
A native of Poland, Sliwinski enjoyed a four-year playing career at Iona, where he was a two-year captain and was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in all four of his seasons. He graduated in 2007 with a degree in finance. During his time at Iona, Sliwinski interned with the New York Red Bulls of MLS, with responsibilities in team operations and game preparation. In 2009, Sliwinski earned his master's degree in sports management from St. John's University.
In January 2009, he was appointed the Director of Coaching with the Brooklyn Italians, in charge of the coaching staff and education programs.
