WYATT ADVANCES TO NCAA QUARTERFINALS IN 110m HURDLES

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Radford University track and field team competed in the 2013 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round Friday evening. Sophomore Vincent Wyatt earned a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals after his performance in the preliminary round of the 110m hurdles.

“Vincent had a good run and did exactly what we wanted to do,” said assistant coach Mark White, who oversees RU hurdles and sprints. “He executed a good, clean race and advanced. That's what we wanted.”

Wyatt finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles after clocking the fourth fastest time in RU history of 13.86 seconds. Wyatt will compete in the quarterfinals tomorrow, and will need a top-12 finish out of the remaining 24 hurdlers to earn a trip to the NCAA National Championship Meet held in Eugene, Oregon.

Sophomore Joseph Betts ran a time of 21.53 seconds in the 200m dash, but missed the quarterfinals cut after finishing 36th. Betts ran the fastest 200m time of all Big South Conference qualifiers.

RU track & field returns to action in the NCAA East Regional's tomorrow, May 25th. Wyatt will be competing in the quarterfinals during the evening while senior Curtis Hodge will participate in the hammer throw during the morning.
