RU TRACK & FIELD FINISHES SEASON AT NCAA EAST REGIONALS

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Radford University track and field wrapped up its action in the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round Saturday.

“These three young men represented the program and university at the highest level and I am very proud of them,” said head coach Brent Chumbley. “Vincent got a tough break finishing 13th and need 12th to advance … Vincent and Joseph [Betts] will be back for two more years so we are excited about the future of RU track and field.“

Sophomore Vincent Wyatt finished 13th in the NCAA East Quarterfinals of the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.86 seconds. However, only the top-12 advance to the NCAA National Championship meet and Wyatt found himself just outside that mark. Wyatt's 13.86 seconds clocked in as the fourth fastest time in RU history, and his 13th place finish was tops among Big South competitors.

Senior Curtis Hodge finished 29th, after coming into the preliminary round ranked 42nd, in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.54m. Hodge was the top Big South Conference finisher in the hammer throw at 29th.

“Curtis came in 42nd and he competed really well,” Chumbley added. “I was very proud of his effort today.”
