MEN'S TENNIS RELEASES 2017 SCHEDULE; INCLUDING 10 HOME MATCHES



2017 Schedule


RADFORD, Va. – Head coach Mike Anderson announced the 2017 men's tennis schedule on Wednesday morning, which boasts a program record 10 regular season home matches inside the RU Tennis Complex.
 
The Highlanders kick off the season in warmer weather on Jan. 14 in Haines City, Fla., against NAIA member Southeastern in exhibition action. RU will conclude the January portion of its schedule in the Palmetto State; taking on South Carolina State (Jan. 27), USC Upstate (Jan. 28) and Coastal Carolina (Jan. 29).
 
Radford will play only two matches in the month of February, opening the home portion of the schedule on Feb. 5th against George Washington. Anderson's Highlanders will start Big South play two weeks later at UNC Asheville on Feb. 19th.
 
March will begin with a west coast road trip that will pit the Highlanders against four opponents for the first time in program history. The road trip consists of matches against Montana (March 6), Idaho (March 8), Gonzaga (March 9) and Eastern Washington (March 10).
 
Following the trip, RU will travel to Winthrop for a March 18th league match, before starting a six-match homestand.
 
The homestand will see the Highlanders host Gardner-Webb (March 19), Wingate (March 24), Navy (March 25), Longwood (March 26), UC Riverside (March 30) and Presbyterian (March 31).
 
RU will travel to Campbell on April 1st for its third and final Big South road contest of the 2017 season, before returning home for three matches to wrap up regular season play.
 
The Highlanders finish the season hosting UNC Greensboro (April 2), James Madison (April 5) and Liberty (April 6).
 
The 2017 slate consists of 10 home matches, including four in Big South play.
 
The Big South Tournament location and dates have yet to be determined.
