NATE PARSLEY TAKES OVER AS SOFTBALL’S PITCHING COACH

RADFORD, Va. – Head coach Aileen Morales announced the addition of Nate Parsley to the Radford softball staff as the program's new pitching coach. Parsley began work with the Highlanders on Monday.

"I am happy to have Nate join our staff as our pitching coach," Morales said. "His work ethic and love of the game are two of his strongest attributes. I am confident he will make an immediate impact on our pitching staff as well as other aspects of our program as we continue to build on last year's success."

Parsley comes to Radford following a successful tenure at Division III Northeast power Rowan University, including the last four years as the program's top assistant. During that time, Rowan compiled a 154-38 record while qualifying for the NCAA Regionals each year, advancing to two Super Regionals and reaching the NCAA Championship Tournament last season, placing third overall and finishing with a 42-11 mark.

Since Parsley joined the staff as a student assistant in 2009, Rowan captured five New Jersey Athletic Conference regular season championships, three NJAC Tournament titles and made NCAA appearances in seven of the eight years.

After being promoted to assistant coach, Parsley guided a pitching staff that ranked among the top 10 nationally in earned run average three straight seasons (2013-15), and at least one Rowan hurler earned NFCA All-Region First Team honors each year since 2012. In his role, Parsley also served as the program's lead recruiting coordinator and organized gameday scouting reports. This past year, he oversaw top high school talent as head coach of the Delaware Magic 16U AAU travel team.

"I am beyond grateful to begin this new chapter at Radford University and work for coach Morales," Parsley said. "After coming off a tremendous 2016 season, it is an exciting time to be a part of the program. I look forward to working with the pitching staff and helping each player learn to compete at the highest level."

Adding to his coaching experience, Parsley was an assistant with the Rowan men's and women's swimming teams from 2013 to 2015. He helped guide the men's team to a 20-2 combined record and coached two NCAA national qualifiers, while the women's team posted a 17-6 mark. As a student-athlete, he was a four-year member of the program and a team captain in 2012 when he earned Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team honors.

After receiving his bachelor's degree in education in 2012, Parsley held positions as a graduate assistant with the university's Department of Health and Science for three years and as an intern with the athletic director. He earned a Master of Arts in higher education administration this past May.
