
MIEDEMA’S KILLS NOT ENOUGH; RADFORD FALLS TO WINTHROP, 3-0

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Despite a season-high 13 kills and .571 hitting percentage from freshman Jesse Miedema, the Radford volleyball team fell to Winthrop, 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 23-25), Saturday afternoon at the Winthrop Coliseum.
The loss drops Radford, 6-10, 0-2, while Winthrop improves to 4-10, 1-1.
Along with Miedema, Desiree Aramburu also recorded double-figures with 30 assists, while Katelyn Meeks and Emily Carlin both tallied 10 digs each.
As a team, the Highlanders struggled finding the floor with a .165 hitting percentage, while the Eagles put down a .324 and also recorded 10 total team blocks.
Kaley Viola led Winthrop with 11 kills (.310) and nine digs.
The Highlanders will return to action Friday, Oct. 1 with a 7 p.m. tilt against UNC Asheville at the Dedmon Center.
