SEASON-HIGH ATTACK PERCENTAGE KEYS VOLLEYBALL OVER AGGIES

RADFORD, Va. – Behind a season-high.465 attack percentage, Radford Volleyball posted a three-game sweep (25-12, 25-8, 25-13) of North Carolina A&T, Tuesday evening from the Dedmon Center.

Six different Highlanders (7-10) recorded .500 or better attack percentages led by freshman Rachel Wiechecki (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline Academy), who tallied a match-best 13 kills (.522) with just one error. She also added six digs, four block assists and three aces.

Junior Emily Hayes (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and freshman Emma Deininger (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) joined in of the fun with six kills apiece and .750 and .500 attack percentages, respectively. Freshman Jena Braden (New Knoxville, Ohio/New Knoxville) dished out a team-high 10 assists as six different Highlanders recorded a helper.

In addition to hitting .364 and recording five services aces, the Highlanders led from start to finish in a 25-12 game-one win. Deininger and sophomore Jesse Miedema (Huron, Ohio/Huron) each recorded three kills, while Wiechecki and freshman Christine Beckham (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) served up two aces apiece.

Behind an 18-1 run, Radford cruised to a 25-8 game-two victory. It marked the fewest points allowed in a game since the Highlanders limited Coppin State to nine on Sept. 4, 2009.

Leading 4-3, Radford rattled off 11 straight points on Rachel Brummitt's (Plano, Texas/Plano) serve and pushed its advantage to 22-4 when the big run was completed. Hayes led the charge, recording a perfect 4-for-4 in attacks as the Highlanders hit .500 (12 kills, 2 errors). They also dished out four more aces, three by Brummitt.

Brummitt, Beckham and Wiechecki (pictured left) each registered three of Radford's 10 service aces, while Brummitt posted a match-best 14 digs on the defensive end for the Highlanders.

Radford closed out the match with a 25-13 victory in game three. In the final game, the Highlanders recorded their highest attack percentage (.517) and used a 10-3 run to break open an 8-6 contest and take a commanding 18-9 lead.

Also joining in on the attack was senior Carly Fleming (Manassa, Va./Osbourne Park) and junior Rachel Fertitta (Roanoke, Va./Emory & Henry), who each recorded five kills and zero errors for identical .833 attack percentages.

Jenea Daniels recorded seven kills and Chelsea Fox added 15 assists for the Aggies (0-18).

Radford hits the road this weekend for a pair of Big South contests at Campbell on Friday and High Point on Saturday. Times for each contest are 7 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
