WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS AT JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison defeated Radford, 5-0, in a nonconference women's tennis match Friday afternoon at the Hillside Courts.
The Dukes (12-5) captured the doubles point behind victories at the bottom two flights. JMU went on to claim the first four singles decisions.
Gemma Valls was up a set against Alex Huie at No. 2 singles. The junior broke her opponent late in the first frame to earn a 7-5 win. The score was tied at 3 in the second set when the team decision was reached.
After dropping her first set, Sara Andrade was on her way to forcing a third frame. The freshman led 4-1 in the second stanza against the Dukes' No. 6 singles player, Sarah Khan, when the match was called.
Radford (9-12) hosts UNC Asheville in a pivotal Big South clash at the Radford University Tennis Complex Saturday at 11 a.m. The winner earns an automatic berth into Tuesday's Big South women's tennis championship quarterfinals.
