RADFORD RALLIES IN SINGLES TO BEAT PRESBYTERIAN, 6-1

CLINTON, S.C. – Behind impressive efforts in singles, Radford registered a 6-1 victory over Presbyterian College Saturday afternoon in Big South women's tennis action at Templeton Tennis Courts.
Trailing 1-0 following doubles competition, the Highlanders (7-9, 2-3 Big South) swept all six singles points to complete the comeback. With the win, Radford already equals its win total from a season ago. The Blue Hose drops to 8-14-1 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
Taylor Newman got the Highlanders on the board first when she cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Patricia Alves at the top flight. Taylor Fay made it 2-0 in favor of RU with her 6-2, 6-4 win over Kayla Stanford on court six.
Gemma Valls was next to finish, as she downed Greer Ransom (6-2, 7-5) at the second position. Gisela Garcia clinched the match on court five with her 7-5, 6-2 victory over Lucia Leahy.
Grace Sarver won her seventh match in nine outings by taking down Caroline DeLoach (6-3, 6-3) at the fourth flight; while Meg Napolitano finished off the singles sweep on court three with her 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 win over Caroline Ferrari.
Radford remains on the road for Sunday's 1 p.m. battle in Boiling Springs, N.C. against Gardner-Webb.
