RADFORD ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH 5-2 WIN OVER SC STATE

RADFORD, Va. – Radford wrapped up its 2016 regular season schedule with a dominate 5-2 win over South Carolina State, Monday afternoon.

With the two teams splitting the first two doubles matches, South Carolina State captured the point as Edgar Diaz and Stanislav Baco took a 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot.

The Bulldogs added to their lead, opening singles action with a victory in No. 6 singles, taking a 2-0 lead.

Radford stormed back, knotting the match at two as Alexandros Caldwell and Samuel Taylor captured wins in No. 1 and No. 3 respectively.

Janken Thoen gave Radford a 3-2 lead with a 6-4, 6-4 win in No. 2 action. The Highlander match win came in No. 4 singles when Nikhil Mannepalli battled back for a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

Already with the match win, Jose Moreno Manzano gave fans in attendance an exciting performance as Manzano and Diaz went back-and-forth in No. 5 singles. Manzano came out victorious with a thrilling 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) decision.

Radford kicks off Big South Tournament play on Wednesday with a 1 p.m. matchup with in-state foe Longwood.
