HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Radford volleyball team suffered its first Big South loss of the season and it came in a three set match against High Point on Saturday afternoon at Millis Center in High Point, N.C.

Three lead changes and 13 ties were featured in the first set. The Highlanders (13-2, 3-1 Big South) never led by more than one in the set and its last lead came with the set at 16-15 on a High Point (11-6, 4-0 Big South) attack error. The Panthers tied the set with a Molly Livingston kill. The set continued and High Point went on a 9-3 run clinching the first set, 25-19.

Radford fell behind 6-0 in the second set, but cut the High Point lead in half, 6-3. That was the closest the Highlander got in the set. The Panthers took advantage of seven Highlander attack errors – the most in a set – and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 second set victory.

Following the 10-minute break, Radford scored the first point of the third set and High Point scored the next two. The Highlanders scored the next point on a Maddie Palmer kill. The score would not be tied again until a Valerie Gonzalez kill tied the third set at 19. High Point recorded three of their set-high 19 kills in the final six points as a 6-1 run sealed the three set win for High Point. Palmer tallied eight of her 13 kills in the final set as the team hit a set-best .294 with a set-high 14 kills.

• Haley Kleespies lead all players with 25 assists in the match. She now has 513 assists this season.
• Maddie Palmer recorded a team-high 13 kills and had nine digs.
• Kleespies was the other Highlander with nine digs, but Kaylor Nash led the way with 10.
• Valerie Gonzalez and Stephanie Neast combined for 16 kills as Gonzalez totaled nine and Neast compiled seven.
• The Highlanders only compiled 36 kills and a .187 hitting percentage, while the Panthers led with 48 kills and a .377 hitting percentage.
• Alyssa Carruth had Radford's only service ace of the match.
• High Point's Haley Barnes led all players with 15 kills.
• The Panthers had more blocks and service aces than the Highlanders.
