RADFORD CONCLUDES SPRING BREAK TRIP WITH 4-1 WIN VS. WAYNE STATE

ORLANDO, Fla. – Radford concluded its Spring Break trip with a 4-1 decision over NCAA Division II Wayne State on Thursday night. The Highlanders finished off the successful trip with a 2-1 clip.
With two wins on the week, Radford improves to 6-5 on the season, moving within one win of the 2017 season total with 10 matches still left on the docket.
Radford dominated doubles action to start the match as Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros defeated the duo of Dasha Kuznetsova/ Khadija Da-Silva by the score of 6-2 in No. 2 doubles, moving to 9-2 on the season and 9-0 in the No. 2 spot.
Natalie Sayer and Tyler Blalock secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory in No. 1 singles. The team of Jeanine Acierto and Zoe Fraser was a game from giving the Highlanders wins in all three doubles matches, but due to Radford taking the point the match was left unfinished at 5-2.
Continuing her dominating play in singles, Meszaros improved to 8-3 overall with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Da-Silva in No. 3 singles as she has won four straight.
Sayer moved Radford's lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kuznetsova in No. 2 singles with the win improving her to 5-5 on the year.
Wayne State's only point came from Andreea Mitrache's 6-4, 6-2 victory over Dzeubou in No. 1 singles. The Highlanders sealed the 4-1 victory in No. 5 singles as Acierto finished off Astrid Ciellza 6-2, 6-0 for her fourth singles win on the season.
Radford's other two singles matches were left unfinished as Radford clinched the match in the first four singles matches played.
The Highlanders will return to action on March 14 for their home opener and Big South opener against Winthrop at 1 p.m.
