ROCK HILL, S.C. – Radford's 2018 season came to an end in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals as the Highlanders fell 4-0 to top-seeded Winthrop on Monday morning.

Finishing the season with a 10-12 overall record, Radford got behind early as Winthrop grabbed the doubles point quickly. The 10 wins mark a four-win improvement from a season ago under first year head coach Rolando Vargas.

Diego Quiroz and Tremayne Mitchell opened the match with a 6-1 victory over Rodrigo Magalhaes and Alexandros Caldwell in No. 1 doubles. The Highlander duo finished the season with a 12-6 mark in doubles.

The Eagles clinched the match in No. 3 doubles as Connor Williamson and Aditya Gokhale handed Robin Calais and Michiel Meekers a 6-1 loss.

In No. 2 doubles, Matko Varga and Carlos Sala were trailing 4-3 as the match was left unfinished due to Winthrop already clinching the point.

Winthrop continued its fast start to the day as Williamson defeated Varga in No. 3 singles with a pair of 6-1 victories. The Eagle lead grew to 3-0 as Joshua Ryan took a 6-1, 6-2 win over Calais in No. 6 singles.

The match was clinched by Quiroz in No. 1 singles as he finished the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Magalhaes. The sophomore finished the season with a 12-10 clip in singles play.

Keeping his 16-5 record intact was Meekers has was the only Highlander on the day to win a set as he led Leandros Pappayiannis 7-5, 2-0 in No. 4 singles before the match was left unfinished.
