
BAREFORD ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF DIMOSTHENIS TARAMONLIS

RADFORD, Va. – After a stellar postseason run, the Radford men's tennis program is excited about the addition of Dimosthenis Taramonlis, which was announced on Wednesday afternoon by head coach Rob Bareford.

With an aggressive style of play, Taramonlis specializes in doubles. At one point in his young career he had a 12.76 Universal Tennis Ranking.

"I am very excited to sign and welcome Demi to the Highlander Tennis family,"Â Bareford said. "He will be an immediate contributor in our lineup."

Known by many as Demi, Taramonlis began playing at the age of five and found a love for tennis from of his father. The Veria, Greece native began playing competitively at the age of seven. Through steady competition and training, Taramonlis competed with the Greek national team at the 2017 European Championships. That was the first goal he set for himself at an early age.

Along with the completion of his goal, Taramonlis was a singles finalist at the ITF U18 singles (Grade 5) and was a three-time singles quarterfinalist in the same tournament. Prior to that he was a two-time Tennis Europe U16 singles champion in 2016 and 2017.

The 6-1, 158-pound player was a national tournament first place singles player in 2017 and a two-time National Masters Singles Champion. He was also a national singles champion 21 times, a national doubles champion 33 times and was a 3rd District singles champion 42 times.

Recently Taramonlis was a national men's singles and doubles champion earlier this year. He trained at the IEV Academy-A.C. Nireas and will be sporting a Highlander jersey in the fall.
