BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Highlanders were unable to overcome an early deficit against conference foe Gardner-Webb Saturday afternoon, with Anastasia Belyaeva winning once again on court one highlighting the day.
After dropping the doubles point the Highlanders had many battles in singles play that could've easily flipped their way. Katey Fruehauf battled on court six in a 3-6, 6(4)-7 loss while Alexis Cramer came up just short on court five 0-6, 5-7, 3-10.
Belyaeva was the lone victor of the day on court one winning her match in comeback fashion 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(3). The win was Belyaeva's eighth of the year improving her record while on court one to four wins and just one loss. She also remains unbeaten in Big South play in three matches.
