ANCHORAGE, Ky. – The Radford Women's Cross Country team recorded the best finish in school history Friday at the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Kentucky, finishing 13
th as a group in the meet. The Highlanders were led by
Hannah Moran who broke yet another school record, her third on the season.
With her time of 20:42.8 over 6K, Moran now holds the top spot in all recorded distances for the program. Moran also finished 18
th overall in the meet and now has to wait until individual selections for the NCAA Championships are announced to see if she is in. If she does make it into the national meet, Moran would be just the second Highlander ever to do so, after Meghan McLaughlin in 2001.
Â
Moran was followed in the scoring by
Rachel Werking,
Rachel Millirons and
Savannah Hoff. For Werking and Hoff, their times of 21:57.1 and 22:42.1, respectively, place them in the top-10 in school history for the 6K race for the first time. Millirons ran to an excellent finish of 22:15.1, good for a three-second personal best for the Salem, Va. native who stood at third in Radford history coming into the day.
Â
Chloe Wellings wrapped up the scoring five for Radford with a strong personal-best time of 23:10.1.
MegAnne Gilmore and
Kayland Bond also competed for the Highlander finishing with times of 23:22.6 and 23:43.2, respectively, a personal record for Gilmore.
As a team, after being ranked in the top 15 in the region, the Radford women proved their chops with the best finish in school history. That 13th overall finish was also the highest on the day for any Big South school.
Â
On the men's side,
Nate Jennings once again led the way with a time of 31:47.5, good for fifth place in the school record book. Finishing close behind in 32:08.7,
Joshua Daggett ran his way into sixth in school history.
Â
Jennings and Daggett were joined in the race by
Luke Richards and
Hayat Khan who finished with times of 33:36.2 and 34:28.5, respectively.
Â
The Highlander men competed with only four runners and as a result did not record a team score.
