Nagai’s First Hole-In-One Highlights Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Radford women's golf team concluded play at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday, finishing in eighth place after all three days of competition.

Day One
On the first day of competition the Highlanders shot 24-over (308) as a team in the first round, with Sidney Walker starting her strong week of competition by leading Radford with the low round of the day at four-over. As a team Radford had five birdies with Jimenna Ramirez leading the team with two.

Radford also had two eagles on the day, with the first coming from Natalie Welsh and the other coming from Riko Nagai who shot a hole-in-one for the first time in her career from 171 yards on the par-three 16th hole. Nagai finished her impressive day with the second-lowest round at five-over. Radford would finish the first round in sixth place, just behind Western Carolina.

Day Two
Moving on to the second day of competition the Highlanders shot 37-over (321) as a team, with Walker once again posting the low round of the day improving on her first-round score by going just two-over. Walker had one birdie on the last hole but was even on every hole except for three to lead the team.

Natalie Welsh and Nagai also added birdies on the day, with Welsh posting the second-lowest round for the team at nine-over. The Highlanders finished round two in seventh but would regroup for a strong finish in the final day of competition.

Day Three
Finishing off the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, the Highlanders shot 34-over (318) as a team, with Welsh posting the low round of the day at four-over. Welsh birdied twice to lead the team with Walker also adding one birdie which was her third straight round recording a birdie. This wrapped up the tournament and placed the Highlanders in eighth.

Radford will take a week off before returning to competition for the Kingsmill Intercollegiate which tees off on March 29 in Williamsburg, Va.
