NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Radford men's and women's cross country teams both received All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2021 season. Additionally, Hannah Moran was named to the All-Academic Athletes team as an individual.

With a 3.6 team GPA, the Highlander men ranked 18th in the nation as a group while the women's group was ranked 37th nationally with their 3.71 average. To qualify for the honors, a program must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Nationally, 150 men's and 168 women's programs achieved that level of academic excellence.

For Moran, the honors come as a fitting cap to a stellar season which saw her named Big South Runner of the Year. According to the USTFCCCA, in order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. Moran's GPA, paired with her NCAA All-Region showing at the Southeast Regional, earned her the nod.

"The men have been impressive on the course and in the classroom," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Shelli Sayers. "They are super young and their energy is focused on being the best they can be at everything. We have never had an energy and culture like this in my time at Radford; the university community should be proud for these guys... Honestly, this is not a surprise for the women. Their attention to details in the classroom translates to practice, and that's what sets them apart."
