NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Radford Women's Cross Country team begins the 2022 season ranked 13th in the Southeast Regional U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason Regional Rankings.
Radford made its first-ever appearance in the rankings last fall and rose to as high as number 12 on the list. The regional ranking is currently led by NC State and the Highlanders are the only Big South school included as of now.
The Highlanders placed second at the 2021 Big South Conference Championships, the program's second consecutive second-place showing.
Hannah Moran wrote her name all over the Radford record books, including a Big South Individual title which was the program's first since 1990.
While Moran has since graduated, the team will return several key contributors such as
Rachel Millirons and
Chloe Wellings, who both earned All-Conference honors as well.
MacKenzie Gardner,
Savannah Hoff, and
MegAnne Gilmore - who each scored points for the Highlanders at the 2021 Big South Conference Championships - will also return this season.
Radford will begin its 2022 season this Thursday, Sept. 1 when it hosts the Radford Relays at the Radford Athletics Complex. The women's race is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. while the men will run soon after at 5:30 p.m.
