Volleyball’s Season Comes to an End in Big South Semifinals

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Radford volleyball program fought tough with the top seed in the conference High Point on Saturday afternoon but came up short in the 3-0 finish.

In the opening set, Radford had to play from behind early after an 8-1 run to open the day by High Point. Out of a timeout, Mundkowsky got a pair of kills to put the offense back on track. A 5-1 run that included a kill by Moore and ace from Johnson pulled Radford within a 9-12 deficit.
Radford would stick close from there, but High Point ended the set on a 5-0 run to take the 1-0 lead 25-17. A long run began the second set for the Panthers as well as the Highlanders went behind 9-3. Errors and a kill by Sloss would help Radford ease the deficit.
Mundkowsky would also pick up a pair of kills to help Radford earn a 5-0 run to trail just 14-18. High Point ended the set on a 7-1 run, however, to take a 2-0 advantage winning set two 25-15.
Radford would briefly lead in the third set and would continue their fight to try and extend the match. The Panthers had a response at each run, though, and got another big late run. Down 23-14, the Panthers were able to pull away and seal the match 3-0 in their favor to advance in the tournament.
