KEY STATS
PLAY BY PLAY
To begin the night, Radford put its best foot forward despite trailing early. After going down 9-5, the Highlanders went on an incredible 14-2 run to burst ahead with a strong 19-11 lead. The Highlanders offense was paced during that stretch by kills from Moore and Paspal. Radford would seal the deal in the first set with a 25-20 finish for the early 1-0 lead.
Â
The Blue Hose responded with a big run of their own in the second set. Tied 5-5, Presbyterian earned an 8-1 run to take a decisive lead. Presbyterian seemed to have control leading 19-11, but Radford didn't give up clawing back with a 7-1 run. The Blue Hose held on, however, winning the second set 25-23.
Â
With the match now evened at one-all, Radford went back to work and got an incredible effort in the third set. Moore, Aubrey Hatch and Kennedy Robinson especially came alive in the set with kills and aces to blow past Presbyterian 25-17 and retake a 3-1 lead.
Â
The fourth set was a back-and-forth affair as neither team was able to go on any extended runs. Presbyterian, who paced ahead of Radford for most of the set, was able to force the fifth set 25-22.
Â
That momentum carried into the fifth set as Presbyterian gained an early lead and never looked back. Despite a late run, the damage was done as Radford fell 15-11 and dropped the match 3-2.
