Women’s Tennis Falls at Wofford Despite Close Battles

RADFORD, VA. – The Radford women's tennis program fell Saturday afternoon at Wofford in a 7-0 final despite some competitive doubles and singles matches.
In doubles play Wofford got the early 1-0 advantage with wins on courts one and three, but Radford was able to claim a win on court two. The duo of Lexi Smolder and Ameek Batth outlasted their foes for a strong 7-5 victory.
In singles Wofford took all six courts, but a pair of Highlanders went into three sets and came up just short in tiebreakers. On court two, Michaela Stephens was locked in an intense battle before ultimately falling 7-5, 5-7, 0(6)-1. On court five Rachel Ekanem was also in a tight battle before falling 7-5, 3-6, 0(5)-1.
The Highlanders will get some time off before returning home for a match with ETSU this upcoming Friday, March 1st.
