Edwards, Severin, Courteau All Earn Big South Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the men's tennis end-of-season awards Thursday afternoon revealing that Evan Edwards, Guilherme Severin and Charles Courteau were all named to all-conference awards lists.
Edwards highlighted the list becoming the first Highlander to ever win the conference's Newcomer of the Year award. Edwards transferred to the Highlanders this season from Louisiana and stepped into a large role. Due to injuries on the team, Edwards played on higher courts than normal early in the season. In conference play, Edwards earned a pair of big victories defeating opponents from Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian on court six. In some brief appearances in doubles play, he was up against opponents such as BYU and Wake Forest before going unfinished.
Severin was named to the conference's singles first-team, earning the second such award of his Radford career. This season the team captain was vital to the Highlanders moving up to the top court in singles while continuing his success on the doubles top court. Severin earned a pair of singles victories on court one against Big South foes this spring.
Rounding out the conference awards was Courteau who earned the all-academic nod. Now in his senior season with the Highlanders, Courteau has accumulated a 3.63 GPA while majoring in economics. With the Highlanders this year he's primarily competed on court five singles but also has a lone victory on court three. On court one doubles he's earned three wins including one in conference play.
