KEY STATS
PLAY BY PLAY
After playing in the final match last night, Radford got another quick turn around with their morning match today. Morehead State got out to an early lead at 7-2 benefiting from some Radford attack and serving errors to quickly take the first set 25-19.
Â
Radford got a better start in the second set, but Morehead State didn't let up using an 8-0 run at one point to build an insurmountable lead and take the second set with the same 25-19 final.
Â
Backed up against the wall, Radford looked for answers. Freshmen Gage and Miller got the opportunity and used it well beginning in the third set. Radford would burst out to a 4-0 lead before becoming deadlocked in a back-and-forth affair.
Â
Morehead State scored twice to go up 20-18 forcing Radford to regroup for the final stretch. Radford would end the set on a 7-2 run getting three kills from Miller late to seal the 25-22 third set win.
Â
Despite an early 5-1 lead in the fourth set, the two squads would eventually be locked into the most intense sequence of the afternoon. Both teams knotted up at 21-21 and nobody was able to score the back-to-back points needed for the set win. The two teams moved past the 25-point mark all the way over 30 points before it was Radford who got kills from Mundkowsky and a block assist by Alana Kolb and Rylee Sloss to win the fourth set 33-31.
Â
In the deciding fifth set the points continued to be traded until Radford was able to gain a 7-4 edge. A timeout allowed Morehead State to readjust, however, going on a strong run to eventually seal the deal winning the set 15-11 as Radford fell 3-2.
