Some misfires put Radford behind 4-0 early in set two, but a trio of kills from Sloss helped Radford stay close. After a kill by Olivia Ryno made it an 8-7 deficit, Winthrop went on a 6-1 run to reestablish their lead. Winthrop kept firing to a 20-10 lead, which put the set out of reach to eventually claim a 2-0 lead.

In set three Radford would try to hang on but was put into an early hole. Winthrop went ahead 7-2, forcing Radford to look for answers. Trailing by as much as six in the set, Radford got its rally sparked by a block from Gabriela Smolenska and Sloss.
