Program Top 10 Marks and Top 5 Finishes Highlight Firetower Project Showing by Cross Country

BOONE, N.C. – The Radford men's and women's cross country programs both recorded strong finishes at the Firetower Project Friday afternoon hosted by Appalachian State, with Sienna Bailey and Sophie Magson's top 10 program marks highlighting the action.

The men's program was able to solidify yet another top five finish behind some strong performances in their 8k run. Charlie Dance led the team for a second straight meet, placing 12th overall. Jensen McCutcheon quickly followed with a great new PR in the 8k, finishing 22nd overall. Quinlan Beegle and Mason Erchull were the Highlanders next two finishers with each also recording their new personal bests.

Rounding out Radford's first five finishers was a slew of Highlanders that all finished within a few seconds of each other. Hayat Khan was the last Highlander to grab points for the squad, while Liam McDonald and Owen Sexton each quickly followed with Sexton setting a new PR.

The women quickly followed the men, running their first 6k of the season, and were also able to finish fifth in a talented field. Bailey was the Highlanders' top finisher and her time of 21:46.2 ranked seventh all-time as she placed fifth overall. Magson was right behind her by a few seconds finishing seventh overall at 21:49.6 which ranks eighth best in the program all-time.

The freshmen Allison Nelson and Cora Gentzel were next to finish for the Highlanders to help seal a slim advantage over James Madison in the team standings. Katelyn Campbell was the final Highlander to place as she set a new personal record in the event.
