
Volleyball’s Postseason Run Comes to End in Big South Semifinals

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Radford volleyball program came up short in their Big South Semifinals match against the second seed High Point Saturday night in a 3-0 final.

The Highlanders and Panthers were neck-and-neck early in set one, but an extended run would give the tournament hosts an early lead. Lea Gage, Smolenska and Roberts all tallied kills as Radford sat behind by just a 9-7 margin. An 8-2 run grew the Panthers lead to a wide margin, and a 5-0 run to end the set sealed it 25-13 in their favor.

Fortunes remained in High Point's favor into set two as the Panthers immediately jumped ahead 10-3. Serving errors would help Radford climb back, but another 9-1 run that ended the set led to the lopsided 25-11 finish for High Point in set one.

In set three, High Point once again jumped out to a big 12-4 advantage early in the set. The Highlanders wouldn't go away quietly as the team rallied for an 8-2 run that pulled the match back within reach at 21-17. Kills from Miller and Sloss fueled that run, but High Point was able to hold on in the end winning set three 25-20 and the match 3-0.
