Women’s Golf Debuts 2026-27 Season with Solid Showing at Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Radford women's golf program debuted their 2026-27 season this week competing at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and placed well in a competitive field with a pair of Highlanders placing top 50 individually.

THE BREAKDOWN
Gilreath led the Highlanders' efforts at the Golfweek Fall Challenge with a consistent performance across all three rounds that earned her a tied for 30th individual placement. In round one, Gilreath would birdie her first hole of the season and sit at one-over through 12 holes. On her final hole of the day, she birdied again to finish one-over on the day, second best on the team.
On day two Gilreath was similarly as strong sitting even after holes ten through 15. A rough patch over holes 16, 17 and 18 but birdied hole five-over in round two. Gilreath was right back to form to finish her week strong in round three. She would birdie the 15th, 2nd, 5th and 9th holes for the Highlanders best round of the day at six-over.
Mary Elizabeth Harrison also had a strong debut tournament for the Highlanders. On day one she had the best round for the team at even which included birdies on holes 10, 1 and 6. Round two she once again led Radford at three-over at the end of the day with consistent play that included a pair of birdies on the 5th and 15th hole. While her final round had some bumps, she still used five birdies to finish tied for 36th overall individually.
Macy Johnson was the third top-finishing Highlander in the tournament thanks to a strong start in the first round at four-over. Grace Addison also looked strong in her first round at two-over which included four birdies over the round. Rounding out the Highlanders' lineup for the tournament was Sophia Martin as the freshman made her collegiate debut.
UP NEXT
Radford is right back in action next week as the team travels to Greenville, N.C. to compete in the ECU Invitational. Action tees off on Monday, September 14th, and runs through Tuesday, September 15th.
