Carlie Clary was promoted to her current role as Director of Business Operations in June 2026.
In her new role, Clary is responsible for administering travel and purchasing processes, processing financial transactions, assisting with budget development and reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with the University, Commonwealth of Virginia, Big South Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.
She previously served Radford as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations, spending seven seasons in the role from July 2019 through the 2025-26 season. Overall, Clary spent nine seasons with the women's basketball program, with her first two as a student manager.
During her tenure as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations, Clary assisted in a multitude of the women’s basketball program’s efforts including recruiting, social media, day-to-day operations, travel, practice and student manager operations. She was responsible for the team’s travel including budget, itineraries, meal accommodations, bus and plane travel as well as hotel booking. She also built program branding through graphics and videos and developed all team scheduling and communication within the athletics department. On Highlander gamedays, Clary helped implement and organize the Ball Girl Program present at all Radford home games. Her efforts with community outreach and faculty outreach have supported both Radford’s marketing and communications coordinators.
Clary had previous experience in coaching ranging from Assistant Women's Varsity Coach at Auburn High School from 2014-2016, Assistant Women's AAU Basketball Coach at Pulaski County High School in 2014 and more.
In 2024, she was selected as a representative for the Go For the Greens leadership conference in Orlando, Fla., which highlights women in leadership. Most recently in 2025 she was selected as a speaker for the inaugural Basketball Coaches Association of VA Coaches Clinic.
Clary currently serves as an adjunct faculty professor for the Health and Human Performance Department, teaching upper 300 level sports ethics courses. She graduated from Radford University in 2018 Magna Cum Lauge with a double major in Exercise, Sports, and Health Education, concentrating in sports medicine as well as Communications/Media Studies. Along with Clary’s double major she also minored in Coaching Education and graduated as a Highlander Scholar from Radford University’s Honors Academy in 2018. Clary obtained her master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Management from LSU in March 2020.
