Women's Tennis Drops Big South Opener to Winthrop, 7-0

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Radford dropped its Big South opener against No. 64 Winthrop, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in women's tennis action at Memorial Courts.

With the setback, the Highlanders fall to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in league competition, while Winthrop improves to 6-3 and 2-0.

Radford dropped the doubles point to the Eagles to fall behind 1-0. The third-seeded duo of Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska gimnazija) and Ally Spector (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) were solid for the Highlanders but fell to Sara Abutovic and Paula Pereira, 8-5.

In singles action, Winthrop claimed each of the six matches in straight sets.

The Highlanders will be back in action against North Carolina Central on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1:00 p.m.
