
Women's Tennis Falls to Connecticut, 4-3

ORLANDO, Fla.—Despite a pair of singles victories at the top, Radford fell to Connecticut, 4-3, in women's tennis action Tuesday afternoon.
Almost a month after their last match against Winthrop and two postponements later, the Highlanders got away from winter weather of The New River Valley and into the sun of Florida for five matches during spring break.
The Highlanders fall to 4-4 overall, while Connecticut improves to 2-4.
No. 1 and No. 2 doubles were not contested in this match but No. 3 doubles was taken by the Radford duo of Mirna Matic (Umag, Croatia/Vladmir Gortan Buje) and Christina Hammond (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson), 8-5
In singles action, freshmen Petra Dajevic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska gimnazija) and Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska Gimnazija) each won their matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Dajevic defeated Allison Campitielllo, 6-1, 6-3 while Drobnjak overwhelmed Kelley LoRusso in straight sets.
The Highlanders will be back in action Wednesday, March. 11 at 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with matches against Rochester and St. Joseph's.
