DAYTONA, Fla. – After nearly two weeks of training in the “Sunshine State”, Radford opened its 2011 spring season with a 7-0 blanking of Bethune-Cookman in men's tennis action at the City Island Courts Saturday afternoon.
After sweeping the doubles point in convincing fashion, the Highlanders continued their impressive play by winning each of the six singles matches in straight sets.
“We played a solid match today and had advantage of two weeks training that Bethune Cookman didn't have,” said Radford team captain Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary School). “All of our hard work to this point expanded today as we were able to open the season with a good win on their courts.”
The Highlanders will enjoy a 15-day break before continuing their dual slate with a 10 a.m. contest against Cornell in Charlottesville.
