
WOMEN’S GOLF PLACES 4 IN TOP-20 ON FIRST DAY OF SPIDER INVITATIONAL

DAY ONE RESULTS
RADFORD, Va. – At the conclusion of the first day of the Spider Invitational on Monday, the Radford women's golf team is currently in sixth place and has four players within the Top-20.
Radford (315-308=623) trails fourth place St. John's by only nine strokes on the team leaderboard, while host Richmond holds the top spot with a 605.
The Highlanders are led by Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina), who carded a 155 (+11) and is currently tied for 13th entering the final round Tuesday.
Three Highlanders, Paige Reese (South Hill, Va./Park View), Kirsty Condon (Lincolnshire, England/Kesteven and Sleaford) and Alex Austin (Burke, Va./Robinson Secondary), are one stroke back of Okamoto and all tied for 18th.
Senior Amy McCollum (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford), competing individually, is tied for 35th with a 162 and had the second-most birdies (six) of anyone in the tournament. Her 162 was also a season-low 36-hole total.
The two-day, 54-hole event is being played on the par-72, 6,105-yard layout at Independence Golf Club. Radford resumes final-round action tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
