WOMEN'S GOLF RECEIVES NO. 4 SEED IN BIG SOUTH WOMEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Radford women's golf team has received the No. 4 seed in this week's Big South Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting, which will be hosted by Winthrop University at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C.

A year ago, Radford matched its highest finish in school history as the Highlanders placed fourth for the second consecutive season at the 2010 Big South Women's Golf Championships. As a team, the Highlanders concluded the event at 929 (304-309-316).

Along with matching their highest Big South Championship showing in school history, the Highlanders' 54-hole total bettered their previous conference best by 22 strokes.

Radford also finished the 2009-10 campaign with the lowest team stroke average (317.8) in school history.

Coastal Carolina was tabbed No. 1 followed by associate-member Bucknell and Gardner-Webb. Winthrop will be No. 5 and the defending champion Charleston Southern earns the No. 6 seed. High Point and associate-member Holy Cross round out the bottom at No. 7 and 8, respectively.

The Patriot Club is hosting the championship for the fifth time, as the course hosted the event in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010. The 2011 Big South Women's Golf Championship begins this weekend with a practice round on Sunday, April 10. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played April 11-13.
