HICKSON, Tenn. – Highlighted by five straight-set singles victories, No. 71 Radford cruised by Chattanooga, 7-0, in non-conference men's tennis action Friday evening at the Hixson Racquet Club.

Radford improves to 1-1 on the young season, while tonight was the Mocs' spring opener.

The nationally-ranked Highlanders grabbed the early 1-0 advantage with wins from their No. 2 and 3 doubles teams. Shortly after Stijn Meulemans and Igor Ogrizek cruised past Chattanooga's Ankit Chopra and Stephen Crofford, 8-2, Patrick O'Keefe and Randall Carter secured the team point with an 8-5 decision at the final spot.

Thomas Dehaen, the reigning Big South Player of the Week, used a straight-set win (6-3, 6-1) over Pavels Grigorjevs to extend his dual singles winning streak to 19 straight.

After Meulemans gave Radford a 3-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph on court three, O'Keefe, last week's Freshman of the Week, clinched the match with his second victory of the spring.

The Highlanders also got singles victories from Nicholas Sayer (6-4, 6-3), Ogrizek (6-2, 6-3) and Joe Mills (5-7, 6-2, 1-0). With the match already in hand, the fourth match between Mills and Tresnan was decided by a third-set tiebreak.

Radford returns to the courts tomorrow when it faces Tennessee Tech.
