RADFORD, Va. – Looking to build upon its Top-10 showing from a year ago, the Radford women's golf team returns to Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and the CSU Wendy's Invitational for its fourth tournament of the fall. The 54-hole event will be contested at the par 72, 6,021-yard Rivertowne Country Club, with 36 holes to be played Monday and the final 18 Tuesday.
The Highlanders will be gunning for their third Top-5 finish in four starts when the squad tees off Monday morning. Radford had success at this tournament last season, tying for fourth through two rounds and finishing tied for eighth out of 16 teams.
Playing a huge role in that performance was Kirsty Condon, who carded her third career Top-10 showing at this tournament last fall. Condon returned a career-low 36-hole total of 150 (74-76) to the clubhouse to finish tied for 10th. She will be playing in the fourth spot this week.
Alexandra Austin will play No. 1 for Radford after her seventh career Top-10 at last week's Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. The Burke, Va. native fired a season-low even-par 72 in the lone round played in the rain-shortened event. Thanks to her six birdies, which tied for tops in the field, Austin's 72 earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.
Hayley Hammond and Paige Reese will be going off in the second and third positions for the Highlanders. Hammond and Reese carry 76.6 and 79.5 stroke averages for the season into their next-to-last tournament of the fall.
After Condon, Katie Parrott will play in the fifth spot. Parrott will be looking to put together her second Top-25 performance on the coastal shores of the Palmetto State.
Joining Radford and the host Buccaneers in the 14-team field will be Appalachian State, Armstrong Atlantic State, The Citadel, College of Charleston, Limestone, Loyola, Presbyterian, Richmond, USC Beaufort, USC Upstate, Western Carolina and Wofford.
The Highlanders will have a practice round Sunday and will be paired with Richmond and USC Beaufort on holes 4-7 for Monday's 36 holes. A shotgun start is set for 8:45 a.m. Live scoring will be provided throughout the tournament by Golfstat and can be viewed by clicking here.
