NO. 67 OLD DOMINION DEALS MEN’S TENNIS 4-0 SETBACK

NORFOLK, Va. – Playing its second straight CAA opponent to open the dual season, Radford men's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to 67th-ranked Old Dominion Saturday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
The Monarchs featured a pair of ranked doubles tandems in No. 30 Can Cetinel / Carlos Lopez Villa and No. 58 Wesley Barrett / Tim Schweig. Cetinel and Lopez Villa dispatched 44th-ranked Nicholas Sayer and Thomas Dehaen (8-5) at No. 1 doubles, while Albert Ochagavia and Jonas Kuwert combined for an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles over Joe Mills and Stijn Meulemans. Barrett and Schweig led on court three (7-1) before the doubles point was decided.
ODU went ahead 3-0 following wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. The Monarchs clinched the dual when Lopez Villa, who entered the weekend as the 112th-ranked singles player in the ITA individual rankings, improved to 9-0 on the season with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win over Sayer on court one.
Up next for Radford will be a Feb. 22 visit to Elon where the Highlanders will battle the Phoenix in a nonconference dual at 2:00 p.m. from the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
