RADFORD, Va. – On the strength of a .311 attack efficiency, the Radford volleyball team defeated UNC Asheville, 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-23), Saturday evening inside the Dedmon Center. With the win, the Highlanders (22-7, 12-2 Big South) captured the conference's regular-season title for the second-straight season and clinched the No. 1 seed in next week's Big South tournament.

"All the credit goes to our players for focusing at the task at hand and working their tails off throughout this year to get to this point," head coach Marci Jenkins said. "I am so proud of this group. It was an incredible Senior Day for our five seniors. Our fans came out in full force. We still have work to do, though. This tournament is going to be wide open. The Big South is as balanced this season as it has ever been."

The regular-season championship is the ninth in program history and the fifth since 1999.

Emma Deininger tied her career high by smacking down 14 kills at a scorching .571 clip. Rachel Wiechecki notched her 22^nd double-double of the season to break the program's single-season double-double record she set in 2013. The outside hitter delivered 12 kills and 13 digs. Maddie Palmer hit .462 on her way to 12 kills, while Megan Short tallied 11 kills at a .348 hitting percentage.

One day after setting her career high in assists with 60, Jena Braden dished out 48 dimes against UNCA to steer the offense. Braden also contributed 11 digs for her 15^th double-double of the season. Savannah Cantrell guided the Highlanders at the net, turning away three Bulldog attacks.

Christine Lakatos was the lone player from UNC Asheville (8-22, 4-10 Big South) to reach double-figure kills (10). Katie Davis finished with 29 assists, while Shelby Erickson and Bryn Pfeiffer pocketed 10 digs apiece.

With the loss, the Bulldogs failed to advance to the tournament. In turn, Campbell earned the eighth and final spot. Radford will play the Camels in Thursday's quarterfinals, which begin with their match at 12 p.m. at The HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C.
