
SWIMMING & DIVING HEADS TO KNOXVILLE FOR CCSA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Radford swimming and diving is gearing up for the CCSA Championships, scheduled for Feb. 19-22 at the Alan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn. The Highlanders kick things off on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. with the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.

The final three days will consist of time swimming trials at 10:00 a.m. and "A" and "B" finals at 6:00 p.m. Diving prelims will be held on Thursday (1-meter) and Saturday (3-meter) at 1:00 and 1:30 p.m., respectively with each final taking place at night in between the individual events and relays.

A LOOK AT RU: Sophomore Sarah Fredericksen enters the meet with the 10th fastest time in the 200 fly (2:07.37) and is tied for 16th in the 100 fly (58.37)… At last year's championships, she finished 10th in the 200 fly (2:05.05)… This season, she has won a team-best 12 races, 10 in butterfly events, seven coming in the 100-yard race, and has won 21 in her two-year career… Senior diver Skye Hickling has reached the A final on the 3-meter board the past two seasons, finishing fifth (264.95 - 2013) and seventh (253.35-2012), respectively… She placed 10th on the one-meter board each of the last two championships… The Highlanders look to improve on their 10th place finish from a season ago… More than 15 top-10 times have been achieved by the Highlanders this season, 13 still stand going into the championships… Five freshmen are responsible for nine of those, led by Laura Bradley trifecta in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 backstroke… Classmates Elena Acevedo (200, 1000 free) and Lindsey Anderson (1000 free, 400 IM) each have two, while Madeline Schouten (100 breaststroke) and Marinda Kitchen (100 butterfly) own one apiece.
