RADFORD, Va. – Logan Shumaker and Maggie Kooken set a pair of personal records Friday afternoon as Radford track and field opened competition at the Highlander Invitational.
Thunderstorms shortened Friday's schedule as the men's and women's javelin, the women's discus and the men's long jump were the only events completed.
Competing for the first time in the men's long jump as a Highlander, Shumaker landed a 6.19-meter leap to place fourth. Meanwhile in the throws area, Kooken hoisted a 31.82-meter effort in the women's javelin to take eighth. She added over one foot to her previous PR.
Saturday's action gets underway at 9 a.m. with the men's discus, the women's pole vault and the women's long jump.
