APP STATE REMAINS UNDEFEATED, DOWNS VOLLEYBALL IN STRAIGHT SETS

BOONE, N.C. – Facing its second straight unbeaten opponent in as many days, the Radford volleyball team was unable to pull another upset as Appalachian State defeated the Highlanders in three sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-15) Saturday afternoon inside the Holmes Center.

Emily Corrigan fueled the fire with a match-high 15 kills, including nine in the opening stanza, to guide the Mountaineers (10-0). She hit .351, while her team finished at a .310 clip. Jess Keller finished with 11 kills to round out the double-figure offensive output for App State.

Defensively, Meghan Mahoney (16) led three Mountaineers with double-digit dig performances. Paige Brown charted a double-double behind 37 assists and 13 digs, while Olivia Loeffler carved out 12 digs. Keller and Lauren Gray tallied four blocks apiece.

The Highlanders (7-3) were held to a .128 attack percentage and could only manage one ace. Maddie Palmer ended with a team-best nine kills, while Rachel Wiechecki delivered eight kills and 15 digs. Jena Braden notched her third straight double-double with 30 assists and 13 digs.

RU closes the Black and Gold Challenge with a 4 p.m. match against Georgia State inside the Holmes Center.
