RADFORD, Va. - Radford (14-7, 5-3) buried a season-high 13 three-pointers and forced 22 turnovers as the Highlanders used an 18-0 run in the opening moments of the second half to build a 26-point lead over Liberty (6-15, 0-8) and cruise to an 84-76 win at the Dedmon Center. YaYa Anderson hit four treys and scored 14 of his 17 points in a two-minute span during the decisive run. Javonte Green scored a game-high 24 points and had a season-high four steals.
"I haven't seen a guy get that hot in a very long time," Radford head coach Mike Jones said. "Our guys did a tremendous job of finding him once he got hot, and YaYa shot the ball with a lot of confidence."
Anderson scored all of his 17 after the intermission, including five three-pointers.
Liberty got off to the fast start at the beginning of the game building an eight-point lead in the first seven minutes of the game. Radford's senior duo of Green and R.J. Price led the charge in the first half as RU ratcheted up its defense and closed the first half on a 12-4 run to take a 44-36 lead into the half.
After the first of Green's thunderous dunks on the day tied the game at 32, Cameron Jones scored five straight points to give RU a lead it would never relinquish.
"There was a stretch over the last 10 minutes of the first half when our defense started to dig in," Mike Jones said. "We turned it around and got the stops and rebounds that we needed."
Green scored 15 of his 24 and Price added 11 of his 14 in the second half. Cameron Jones finished the day with 11 points as four Highlanders were in double figures. Price handed out a season-high seven assists and had three steals. Anderson added four assists as well.
"It's always fun when you play your rival. Guys play with a little more edge and passion," Mike Jones said. "I was pleased that our guys finally finished with a punch. We have let some teams off the hook, but tonight we able to maintain it."
The win was the fifth straight for Radford. The loss was Liberty's eighth in a row.
