FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood (5-10, 1-1) overcame a 12-point Radford lead with 5:10 to play in regulation and then a six-point RU lead in the first overtime Saturday to force a second overtime where the Lancers pulled away to a 90-79 victory at Willett Hall. Despite 20 points from Cameron Jones and Javonte Green's 30th career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, Radford fell to 9-6 overall and 0-2 in the Big South.

After trailing by as many as 11 points in the first half, Radford clawed its way back into the game with a balanced attack. The Highlanders closed the gap to 31-29 by halftime and took the lead just 90 seconds into the second half on a three-pointer by Kyle Noreen to go ahead 36-34. The Lancers would not retake the lead until the first basket of the second overtime. Longwood would never trail in the second extra session.

Jones added five rebounds and a career high four steals to his 20 points. Jalen Carethers tied a career best eight rebounds to go with eight points before fouling out. YaYa Anderson chipped in with nine points, and Rashun Davis and Brandon Holcomb also scored eight. Davis added six assists and Holcomb three blocks.

Radford had the ball and a shot to win both at the end of regulation and the first overtime, but could not covert.

"I'm proud of my guys the way they battled, but we had a chance to put it away and let it slip," Radford head coach Mike Jones said. "It's going to be this way all season in this league, especially the road."

Radford's defense forced 17 Longwood miscues and converted those into a 20-4 edge in points off turnovers. The RU bench outscored Longwood's 39-8, but the Highlanders managed just 35.4 percent from the floor and 20.0 from behind the three-point line. Longwood shot 46.7 percent from the field and hit 8 of 19 from deep.

"We had some great looks that didn't fall, and credit Longwood," Jones said. "They were very aggressive. They went to the hole and went to the glass. We gave up too many easy shots."

Radford, still looking for its first conference win, will travel to Gardner-Webb on Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with the Runnin' Bulldogs. The game will be carried live on ESPNU.
