JAVONTE GREEN SIGNS PRO CONTRACT WITH MARIN PIEXEGALEGO

RADFORD, Va. – Javonte Green, one of the all-time greats to ever suit up for Radford men's basketball, has signed a professional contract with Marin PiexeGalego in Spain's LEB Silver League.

Green, who is Radford's No. 2 all-time leading scorer with 1,911 points, guided the Highlanders to back-to-back postseason berths and 22-win seasons. He finished his career as the Highlanders' all-time leader in rebounds (1,064), steals (243) and games played (133).

The 2015 Big South Defensive Player of the Year becomes the first Highlander to sign a pro deal since Art Parakhouski (2010). Green, who was a three-time All-Big South honoree, ended his career averaging 14.4 points per game and eight rebounds per game.

"I'm so happy for Javonte and his family! He is one of the most gifted basketball players I have ever been around, and he had a major role in us building our program and regaining credibility in the Big South Conference," head coach Mike Jones expressed. "He went from a guy with no basketball scholarships, to one of the top players in our league, to a guy who's now getting paid to play—that's pretty special."

Marin is a city located in northwest Spain bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Green and his teammates open their season on Oct. 3.
