HIGHLANDER MEN CLIMB SEVEN SPOTS IN REGIONAL FIELD

EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Radford men's cross country team placed three runners in the top half of the field in Friday's NCAA Southeast Regional meet and improved its overall standing by seven spots from last season.

The Highlanders' top five runners combined for a score of 542, placing the squad 22nd in the 29-team field, one spot ahead of Clemson, and third among Big South schools.

Frisco Poole followed up his all-conference performance and led the way again for Radford, finishing 64th out of 203 runners in the 10K race with a time of 31:02.5.

Cameron Mims and Ashenafi Kidanu crossed the line closely together second and third, respectively for the Highlanders. Mims clocked 31:34.9 to place 93rd, while Kidanu finished in 31:43.8 for 102nd spot.

Haben Zemichael and Mak Casey rounded out the scoring five, with Zemichael notching a time of 32.40.8 and Casey finishing in 32:51.6.

For the Radford women, Courtney Rice posted her second-best regional time in her final race, clocking 23:52.4. Mariah Quintero was next and 24:24.2 and Percie Lyons followed in 25:10.7.
