
POPE COLLECTS WIN IN 6-1 LOSS TO LIBERTY

RADFORD, Va. – The Highlanders came up short in their 2016 home opener, dropping a 6-1 decision to in-state foe Liberty, Tuesday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.
Liberty (7-8, 3-0) captured the doubles point, but the tandem of Natalie Sayer and Grace Sarver defeated Anna Dollar and Maria Khval in No. 2 doubles by the score of 6-3.
Radford's only win on the day in singles action came from Karlie Pope, defeating Liberty's Mariely Hassey in No. 6 singles (0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4)). The win gives Pope her first win on the season.
The Highlanders (1-9, 1-4) will continue their homestand, returning to action on Saturday, hosting North Carolina A&T for a 2 p.m. non-conference meeting.
