RADFORD EDGES LONGWOOD 4-3 IN BIG SOUTH THRILLER

FARMVILLE, Va. – Radford picked up its first Big South win of the season, taking a 4-3 win over Longwood, Sunday afternoon at the Lancer Courts.

Radford swept through doubles action with ease, controlling an early 1-0 lead.

Jose Moreno Manzano extended the lead to 2-0 with a (6-2, 6-2) win in No. 6 singles.

Longwood battled back, taking three consecutive wins in No. 3, No. 2, No. 1 singles. The three wins gave the Lancers a 3-2 advantage.

Needing two wins to secure the match, Radford picked up a match tying win from Michiel Meekers in the No. 5 spot. Meekers defeated Bharani Sankar in a thrilling 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 match.

Nikhil Mannepalli gave the Highlanders their first Big South victory of the season, taking a 6-4, 6-4 win over Rosen Ilchev.

Radford (2-12, 1-5) returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to in-state foe James Madison for a 3 p.m. matchup.
