RADFORD FALLS 4-2 TO JAMES MADISON

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Radford narrowly missed winning its second match in a row, dropping a 4-2 decision to James Madison in a non-conference regional matchup, Wednesday afternoon at the Hillside Courts.

Jose Moreno Manzano and Michiel Meekers got off to a fast start, earning a 6-1 win in No. 3 doubles. RU was unable to capture the doubles point, dropping the next two matches.

The duo continued their hot start as Meekers got the Highlanders on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 win versus Miljan Ruzic in No. 5 singles. Manzano followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 6 singles versus Alex Berdnikoff.

The two victories gave Radford a 2-1 lead after the first two singles matches.

James Madison battled back, winning the next three matches for the 4-2 non-conference win between the two Commonwealth foes.

Radford (2-12) returns to Big South play on Friday, traveling to Gardner-Webb for a 3:30 p.m. match.
