DOUBLES TANDEM OF SAYER/BLALOCK ADVANCE IN ITA REGIONAL

BLACKSBURG, Va. – As Radford women's tennis team opened up play in the 2017 ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, the duo of Natalie Sayer and Tyler Blalock advanced to the Round of 32 in the doubles bracket as the Highlanders opened the championships Friday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center
Sayer and Blalock teamed up to defeat the Georgetown senior tandem of Drew Spinosa and Sara Swift by the score of 8-4. With the victory, Sayer and Blalock move to a Saturday matchup with the 13th seed team of Brooke Pilkington and Sara Komer of Delaware. The match is slated for a 9 p.m., start on Saturday.
After dropping a qualifying singles match to Virginia's Erica Susi (6-3, 6-3), Sayer picked up a consolation win over Georgetown's Sydney Goodson 6-1, 0-6, 10-6
Drousile Dzeubou fell to Katherine Butler of Virginia Tech 6-3, 6-1 in the qualifying round; while also falling to Swift in singles play 6-2, 7-6 (7).
In her only match on the day, Jeanine Acierto fell 6-0, 6-0 to Virginia Tech's Nancy Ghanem.
Joining Sayer and Blalock in action on Saturday will be Lotti Meszaros, who will face Penn State's Samantha Smith in the main singles draw.
