VARGA WRAPS UP STRONG PLAY IN WAKE FOREST INVITE

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Radford concluded its fall season with a second-place doubles finish in the Wake Forest Invite and a fourth-place singles finish by Matko Varga.

The duo of Varga and Carlos Sala dropped the B1 Doubles Flight championship match to Davidson's Jack Riazzi and Yash Parikh 6-4, finishing second in the flight. Robin Calais and Michiel Meekers fell to Omar Williams and Julian Chousa of Wofford 7-5 in the A2 Doubles seventh-place match.

Finishing the highest among any Highlander individual players, Varga placed fourth in the C3 Singles Bracket after falling 6-3, 6-3 to UNC Asheville's Andrew Sinai.

Calais finished off the C3 Singles Bracket with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Ross Gilbert of Gardner-Webb in the seventh-place match.

In a pair of 11th place matches, Meekers picked up a strong 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Olly Cull of UNC Asheville in the C2 Singles Bracket. Sala fell to Max Corcuti of Liberty 6-3, 6-1 in the C1 Singles Bracket 11th place match.

Radford will open its 2018 spring schedule at home on Feb. 10 with a matchup against NCAA Division II Fairmont State. Â
